Shorts!

So I know it's been way too long since I've posted, but I recently got a job on campus, and school has also been taking up a majority of my time. GOOD NEWS! It's basically Spring in most places except not really where I go to school because I swear it's colder than Alaska 90% of the time here. However, for most people it is almost short-wearing weather! And that means it's time to pick up some new pairs and I have already bought myself about 5 new pairs in the last few weeks. There are some great sales going on right now on a lot of websites as well!

So, wearing your jean short-shorts may have been acceptable when you were in high school and middle school but as we grow older (so unfortunate) it's time to put your big girl shorts on (literally). A more put together way to wear shorts is at least a 3" inseam, and not so tight that you can see the lace of your underwear through the fabric. Jean shorts are not a bad thing, in fact they are definitely a must, however, jean booty shorts are possibly the least attractive piece of clothing in the summer aside from Soffe shorts on anyone over the age of 12.

Here are a bunch of adorable, affordable, and super versatile short options for everyone from the big spender to the penny pincher.

Sperry's & Sequins

As I mentioned in my first post, I planned on doing a post about how to correctly wear sequins instead of disturbing other people by wearing an item such as sequin Uggs to get your sparkle fix. Basically, the only right way to wear sequins is to incorporate one piece. I recently received a request to cover the correct way to wear sequin Sperry Top-Siders, and I don't think that sequin shoes are a bad thing necessarily, so I decided to dedicate this post to a sequin shoe that actually has potential to be cute.

Sperry Top-Siders are, in my opinion, absolutely essential to a college-aged young women's wardrobe. The transition from Summer to Fall and from Winter to Spring calls for a closed-toe sensible shoe, and the best options I can think of are Sperry's. They come in many materials, patterns, colors, etc. I myself am a Plain Jane when it comes to Sperry's but they really have a shoe for everyone. (And for guys too... who can resist a guy wearing a nice pair of Sperry's? No one...) They're just the perfect preppy addition to any wardrobe.
Here are a few of my favorites:

Bottom Left (My Personal Favorite) | Bluefish in Tan / Mesh - $85

Now, the real reason for this post: The Sequin Sperry.
Sperry recently came out with these, and I wasn't a huge fan at first, but done correctly, this is a great way to incorporate some shine into an outfit in a more classy and less obnoxious way.

Much like sequin Uggs, Sperry's come in a multitude of colors, most of which I am not a fan. However, I have a few favorites. Paired with the right outfit, this small burst of sequins can be made perfectly preppy and cute.

So there you have it! The best way to rock sequins on your feet, without looking like a toddler.

Until next time, xoxo

Grammy Review: Best and Worst

Updating a blog everyday is a lot harder than I thought it would be, due to the irritating amount of work that I have during mid-terms week. I know I said I would do my next post on the right way to do sequins, however, with the Grammy's this past Sunday, I felt obligated to take this post in a different direction.

So first things first, the best of the best of the Grammy's I have to say, was a tie between my ALL TIME favorite singer ever, Taylor Swift, and my not-so-favorite, Rihanna.

Taylor's off-white and silver Grecian-style masterpiece is by J Mendel, and she completely rocked it with her romantic pinned back hair. Taylor chose not to don her signature red lip, which in my opinion she can completely pull off, however she made the right decision is straying away from it in this dress. Harry Styles was probably drooling.

Rihanna's red beauty is an Alaia design. The gown is very simple, yet elegant and eye-catching because of the tantalizing color. The only faux-pa I saw with this dress is that you could clearly tell she was not wearing anything underneath on top, but hey, she's Rihanna she can pretty much do whatever she wants. The most beautiful part of the dress was the criss-cross back. However, Rihanna...
You also are on my worst list, when it comes to your hair style choice:

Rihanna is an absolutely beautiful woman, however she really should think about adding a side bang, due to the enormously large forehead that she so unfortunately has. The center part is so difficult to pull off in fact the only person I enjoy it on is Kendall Jenner, and while Rihanna can pretty much do anything, she really made a mistake with trying this part. When she was being interviewed by Ryan Seacrest, my friends and I really could not focus because her forehead was just so distractingly shiny and in our faces. Maybe it was a bad angle? Don't care, Rihanna, please do us all a favor and go back to bangs.
Second on my worst list is also Rihanna... I am not the only person who would like to know why you are still with Chris Brown. Like okay, he's super sexy, has the voice of an angel, and can dance better than almost anyone, but he also covered you in bruises not too long ago, and just recently got in a fight with Frank Ocean over a parking spot... Anger management should be what he is focusing on right now, and you should be focusing on getting those bangs cut.

The next few on my worst list will probably spark some disagreement, but, to each her own.

1) Beyonce. Ok I'm definitely going to get some backlash for this one because Beyonce really can do no wrong but come on. A jumpsuit? To the Grammy's? I'm just disappointed. It's not that ugly... or maybe it is, just not on Beyonce. But she really can do so much better. She has the most beautiful body, hair, face, everything (can you tell I have a weird lesbian crush on her?). Disappointment is pretty much the only word that comes to mind.
2) Katy Perry. Honestly she should've gotten the boot from NBC due to their request that every part of the body be sufficiently covered up because she might as well just go topless. Yes, mint is in this year but if you asked a guy, any guy of any age, who looked the best at the Grammy's, they are guaranteed to say Katy Perry. Ask them what color the dress was, and they just won't remember. They were too busy staring at the massive amount of cleavage she so graciously paraded around for them. Literally my entire Twitter feed was about Katy's boobs for about 20 minutes at one point. Katy Perry always does something "out there" so this was slightly expected and actually slightly better than that cheese block she wore on her head to the VMA's.
3) John Mayer. You look like Willy Wonka in that purplish-blue velvet suit. That is all.

Until next time, xoxo

Sequined Uggs: Why?

The most appropriate first post of this blog would clearly be a critique of the dreaded sequined Ugg. Uggs in general are not the most attractive shoe, however they are one of the most comfortable and warm shoes I have ever worn. Although I own two pairs, I really have strayed away from wearing them in the past few years. The trend, for me at least, faded around 2009-2010. I still respect a nice Sand, Chestnut, Grey, Black or Chocolate pair of tall or short, however when Ugg came out with these creatures this past year, they really redefined the term "ugly".

As you can see from the examples above, there really are so many equally hideous options to choose from! I could not even bring myself to include the hot pink, purple, green and red options that they offer on their website. The sequined Uggs come in every length and style that the regular Uggs do, including a new style... over the knee. Maybe it's just me but that just is far too much sparkle and shine for my liking...

My favorite version of the sequined Ugg I've seen thus far is the Christmas colored red and green sequined Ugg, pictured on the top right corner.

Question: What is the one day that these Uggs would actually be acceptable to wear?
Answer: NEVER. NOT EVEN ON CHRISTMAS.

Seriously, like ugly Christmas sweaters are funny and like semi-acceptable on certain occasions. Red and green sequined Uggs? Never funny. Never acceptable. Never ever ever worth $190. Yes you read that correctly. 190 effing dollars.

5 BETTER Things You Could Buy Instead of Sequined Uggs with $190

1. A pair of Hunter rain boots, which are actually cute AND weather appropriate, and you would still have an extra $55
2. Approximately 13 handles of Burnett's Vodka
3. 38 pizzas at the cheap pizza place in your college town, you know you have one and you know you love it. 38 pizzas? That's 19 weekends... If you're like me...
4. Somewhere between 5-10 cheap slutty dresses that you won't care about ruining for hitting the frats, house parties, bars, etc.
5. A grande Starbucks caramel macchiato a day for 56 days in a row

So there you have it. Five of the probably billions of reasons I could give you to stay away from sequined Uggs.

Final thought...

To some strange life form this may be appealing, but to the average normal human being, this should be a PSA as to why sequined Uggs should be outlawed. Ke$ha, you're my girl I love your music it's like what cheap vodka would sound like if it made noise but I don't ever want to wear you on my body.

Look for my next entry, which will be about how to correctly do sequins!
Until next time... xoxo
